Ludwigslust in festival fever: MV Day 2027 will be a big highlight!
On June 22, 2025, a happy event was celebrated on the Greifswald market square: Ludwigslust received the baton for organizing the next Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Day in 2027. Mayor Stefan Pinnow accepted the honorable task personally and showed full respect for the organization of the current MV Day in Greifswald, which was full of inspiring experiences and a variety of program items waited. Pinnow is optimistic about the preparations and believes that Ludwigslust can present itself impressively in 2027, both in its proven form and with new ideas.
With this handover, Ludwigslust becomes the next host of the state meeting, which will be the sixteenth edition in the history of the MV Days. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig not only praised the volunteers' achievements, but also the entire three-day celebration in Greifswald. She received the baton from Mayor Stefan Fassbinder and handed it over to her colleague Pinnow, who has already had an initial meeting with representatives from the state, district and city.
Insights into the preparations
“We have a good knack for big events,” says Pinnow, who is looking forward to the challenges and preparations. In the city of Ludwigslust, intensive work is being done to ensure that the castle, which will be reopened for the celebration, shines with fresh splendor. The state is investing in the renovation of the historic building, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary as a city in 2024. This anniversary celebration promises to attract many visitors and a colorful program.
“Tens of thousands of visitors are expected in Ludwigslust for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Day,” explains Sternberg, the district administrator of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. It is no coincidence that the MV Day is very popular, as the last editions, such as in Rostock in 2018 and Neubrandenburg in 2023, were real visitor magnets. MV Day is held every two years, and after a break due to the corona pandemic, it is now returning to the mainland stage.
The cities introduce themselves
- Erster MV-Tag fand 2000 in Mühlengeez statt.
- Bisher jährlich bis 2006, danach alle zwei Jahre.
- Letzter MV-Tag in Greifswald: 20. bis 22. Juni 2023, Motto: „Tradition, Innovation, Vielfalt“.
The combination of celebrations not only attracts numerous guests, but also provides a platform for local artists and vendors. A variety of offerings will be available at events in Ludwigslust. In addition to the MV Day, the popular “Small Festival in the Big Park” should not go unmentioned, which attracts up to 18,000 visitors every year. It is clear that in 2027, the organization of MV Day will not just be an event, but a “celebration of the regions”.
