Classic car meeting in Karstädt: Experience nostalgia on two wheels!

In Northern Germany there is a blossoming passion for everything that rolls on two wheels - especially when it comes to mopeds and motorcycles from the famous Simson works. On July 6th a very special event will take place in Karstädt near Ludwigslust. The SR Oldie Club invites you to a classic car meeting, and the anticipation among the members couldn't be greater.

The members of the SR Oldie Club are dedicated to repairing, restoring and presenting iconic vehicles such as the Schwalbe, SR 1 and SR 2. Every club meeting is an opportunity to share one or two anecdotes while talking shop and go on vintage car tours together. This shared passion is not just an activity, but a lively community that also introduces younger people to this fascinating technology.

A festival for classic car fans

On Sunday, July 6th, from 10 a.m., a large classic car meeting will take place on the grounds of the community center in Karstädt. Here guests can marvel at a variety of vehicles, including the popular “Hühnerschrei”, the Simson S51 and the legendary Schwalbe. Old cars will also be part of the spectacle. There will also be a parts market, which is a true paradise for classic car fans hunting for spare parts.

The Schwalbe, perhaps the best-known model of Simson engines, was introduced in 1964 and was in production until 1986. With its characteristic design and a 50cc engine, it has not only captivated nostalgics, but has also become a sought-after collector's item. The Schwalbe will certainly play a central role at the meeting in Karstädt, and many will remember the unforgettable rides of their youth.

A piece of history

The roots of Simson-Werke go back to 1856, when the company was initially founded as a weapons manufacturer. Motorcycle production then began in 1927 with the Model A, which quickly gained popularity. The S51 model was developed in the 1950s and conquered the market, especially in the GDR. It was robust, easy to maintain and held up well on uneven terrain - qualities that made it a faithful companion for many.

The Simson series has continually developed over the years. The market launch of the S50 model in the 1960s and the various versions of the S51 from 1980 underline the cult status of these motorcycles, which were produced until 2002. The innovative technology, including two-stroke engines and electronic ignitions, made these vehicles unique. Many classic car fans appreciate the easy maintenance and the good availability of spare parts, which keeps the love for Simson alive even today.

The classic car meeting in Karstädt will not only be an exhibition of vehicles, but also a celebration of memories and stories that connect generations of bikers. The SR Oldie Club is looking forward to taking young and old into the world of Schwalbe, Star and Sparrowhawk and rekindling hearts for the cult of Simson motorcycles.
