74 companies from Neubrandenburg received the title TOP training company”!
On the afternoon of July 9, 2025, a ceremonial ceremony will take place in Neubrandenburg at which 74 companies will be awarded the title “TOP training company” for their exemplary training quality. The Neubrandenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is honoring the efforts of these companies in training young talent. President Krister Hennige, State Economics Minister Dr. Wolfgang Blank and IHK Vice President Katrin Herzberg are on site to give the award. “The training companies are crucial for the development of young people and strengthening the economy,” emphasizes Hennige, while appealing to politicians to take measures to secure vocational school locations, especially in rural areas.
A central aspect of his speech is the demand for the lifting of the minimum number of pupils for entry-level classes and the need to improve teaching provision by having more teachers. The digitalization of vocational schools should also be pushed forward in order to make training fit for the future.
Top training for the future
The title “IHK TOP Training Company 2025” is awarded to companies that have been training in IHK professions for at least five years and have answered comprehensive questions about the training organization and topics such as environmental protection and the digital world of work. The IHK Neubrandenburg formally examines the application documents and an independent jury decides on the awarding of the award. According to the Osnabrück Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this quality seal is intended not only to make the companies' excellent training achievements visible, but also to send a signal to future skilled workers in order to promote the quality of training. However, more and more companies are faced with the challenge of filling their training positions.
Demographic change, the trend towards degree programs and some school leavers who are not ready for training are factors that increase this challenge. The IHK seal “TOP TRAINING” offers valuable support through detailed advice on training as well as recommendations for action on the further development of young talent. The certificate holders also receive a certificate that recognizes them as committed trainers and is published in a special training magazine and on the IHK website.
Promotion and quality assurance
The IHK has established a multi-stage process for obtaining the quality seal. This includes an initial check, a self-assessment, individual advice and finally an audit in which an independent team evaluates the training in the company. The cost of the audit varies depending on the number of trainees, although the basic tests and consultations are free of charge.
The results of a survey as part of the IW personnel panel show that 86.9% of companies see better qualified applicants as a central aspect of their training. In addition, 85.8% of companies would like more intensive career orientation and preparation for young people. Supporting underperforming applicants is also a widespread concern: 70.8% of companies are actively committed to supporting them.
In summary, it shows that the training landscape in Germany not only needs a good hand for the future, but also needs the right support from the state and the community. This is the only way to best overcome the challenges that are exacerbated by the shortage of skilled workers. The IHK is committed to setting an example and motivating future skilled workers by awarding and supporting “TOP training companies”.
