Advent concert in Berlin: Rouanet saves the evening after Geiss' failure!

A turbulent day for the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic! Chief conductor Daniel Geiss had to give up his musical reins for a short time when he fell ill. Just a few days after the musical premiere of the Advent concert, which took place on Sunday with the young talent Frieda Hollmer on the violin, he was forced to cancel rehearsals. The Humperdinck scholarship holder Victor Rouanet stepped in on Monday without further ado and took over the direction of the Advent concert in the Berlin Philharmonic. Katja Meier, oboist and orchestra director, enthusiastically announced that Rouanet received a lot of positive response from the audience for his debut. It seems the young musician has a good hand!

Amid these challenges, dramaturg Anke Völker-Zabka also had to act quickly to find a replacement for the planned 4th Philharmonic Concert. On Tuesday afternoon, Markus L. Frank, chief conductor of the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau, took over the rehearsal direction. The program includes works by famous composer Sergei Prokofiev as well as French master Maurice Ravel, so the conductor must have extensive knowledge of the compositions. There are several concerts scheduled for December 4th in the Neubrandenburg Concert Church.

Important dates in December

The upcoming events are diverse and offer something for every music lover. Here is an overview of the most important dates:

  • 4. Dezember, 10 Uhr: öffentliche Generalprobe, Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg
  • 4. Dezember, 19:30 Uhr: Premiere, Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg
  • 5. Dezember, 19:30 Uhr: Ernst-Barlach-Theater Güstrow
  • 7. Dezember, 18 Uhr: Landestheater Neustrelitz

The concert program

The program of the 4th Philharmonic Concert promises an entertaining evening:

Factory composer
Symphony No. 1 (“Classic Symphony”) Sergei Prokofiev
Violin Concerto in C major Hob VIIa:1 Joseph Haydn
“Tzigane” (rhapsody for violin and orchestra) Maurice Ravel
“La Valse”, Poème chorégraphique for orchestra Maurice Ravel

The soloist will be Alexandra Tirsu, who will present her talent with the Haydn Concerto - an interesting twist, as the originally planned Prokofiev's 1st Violin Concerto had to give way.

And that's not all! The performance of the Advent concert will be repeated on December 14th at 4 p.m. in the Landestheater Neustrelitz, which offers fans of the classical music series another opportunity to enjoy this cultural treat. The Advent concert will take place under the direction of Daniel Geiss, with the program including highlights from the opera “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck and Mozart’s “A Little Night Music”.

The eleven-year-old violinist Frieda Magdalene Hollmer will shine as a soloist in the Mozart concert, who has already won several prizes and is supported by the German Musical Life Foundation. So we can hope for talented young stars to enrich the stage of these festive events.

Culture awaits us in an eventful program that is sure to fascinate - a mixture of talented young talent and experienced musicians who together ensure an unforgettable experience! Information about other events can also be found on the website Northern Courier, tog.de and concerti.de.
