Eisbären Berlin celebrate a strong victory over Löwen Frankfurt 4:2!

Eisbären Berlin fans can breathe a sigh of relief! After the German Cup break, the Eisbären won their second game in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) 4-2 against the Löwen Frankfurt last night. An impressive 12,915 spectators watched the duel in the arena at Ostbahnhof. It was a thrilling match from the start that captivated the spectators.

The first goal was Ty Ronning, who scored the first goal for the Eisbären in the 14th minute. Although the Eisbären had difficulty making the most of their powerplay opportunities right from the start, Ronning set an important example in the first third. In the second third, Leo Pföderl scored another goal and increased the score to 2-0 in the 22nd minute. But the Lions were not discouraged: Maksim Matushkin scored the winning goal in the 26th minute.

Narrow lead and dramatic finale

In the final period it seemed as if the game could tip over again. Pföderl scored his second goal in the 42nd minute when a Frankfurt player misdirected the puck into his own net. But Noah Dunham showed strong nerves in the 49th minute and reduced the score to 3-2 for Frankfurt. Pure excitement was the order of the day!

The exciting finale reached its climax when Yannick Veilleux scored the final winning goal in the last minute of the game after Frankfurt's goalie had left the ice in favor of an additional skater. The Eisbären can therefore look forward to two points in the table and are once again proving their strength under coach Serge Aubin, who has looked after the team since May 3, 2019.

The polar bears on the way up

This season the team is showing some strengths and has already demonstrated its ambitions early on. What is particularly noteworthy is the individual class of their players. Leo Pföderl, who hit the mark twice last evening, has already impressed so far this season. The support of goalkeepers like Jonas Stettmer and Jakob Hildebrand will also be crucial to moving the Eisbären further forward in the league.

On their way through the DEL, the Eisbären Berlin have built a proud history that began with the GDR championship in 1966 and includes several championship titles in the DEL. The spectators can look forward to an exciting season in which every game counts for the Eisbären. The average audience of 11,277 last season shows the great interest in the polar bears and their development.

The next challenge is already waiting - the Eisbären have a demanding game plan and are fighting to establish themselves in the top third of the table. Enthusiastic fans and a strong team give hope for great success this season. We are excited to see how the Eisbären Berlin will do in the coming games.NordkurierandIce hockey statistics.
