Neubrandenburg celebrates the start of summer: Picnic on the beach” with fun and music!

The sun is shining, the air is filled with anticipation and music - on June 20th there will be a big celebration again in Neubrandenburg on Brodaer Strand! The popular event is taking place for the seventh time this year under the motto “Neubrandenburg picnics”. When the gates open at 6 p.m., between 500 and 700 guests are expected to celebrate the beginning of summer and the summer solstice together. The highlight of the evening? The beautiful sunset at Tollensesee, which can be admired around 9:40 p.m.

Visitors can look forward to a colorful program: the smell of freshly prepared bratwursts and stick cakes will be in the air, while fire bowls will romantically illuminate the atmosphere. New this year is the bouncy castle for the little guests, which is sure to bring a lot of fun. Ice cream from Wulkenzin is also available – a highlight for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Commitment to the community

The event is organized by the BürgerStiftung Neubrandenburg, which was founded in April 2017 by 87 members. Its goal is to strengthen civic engagement in the region and motivate people to help shape their environment. The “Neubrandenburg picnic” project is a matter close to the hearts of the citizens themselves and is very popular – not least thanks to the active support of over 50 volunteers.

As buergerstiftung-neubrandenburg.de reports, the event is not commercial and takes place on a voluntary basis. This means that participation remains free, although donations to support the organization are welcome. The Aloha Beach Bar provides guests who do not have a picnic basket with refreshing drinks, while the event also raises funds for around 9 non-profit organizations that are allowed to present their projects.

Social cohesion

The continuously growing number of participants is particularly impressive: from 99 guests in 2018, to over 200 the following year, to 850 in 2023 - the event has developed into a real insider tip. It is even hoped that around 1,000 participants will take part in 2024.
