Pinnower Gutshaus: A gem shines after 13 years of restoration!
When you talk about architectural treasures in Mecklenburg, you can't ignore a very special manor house in Pinnow near Neubrandenburg. Again Northern Courier reports, Caroline Grün-Müller runs the manor house, which was designed by Friedrich von Klinggräff between 1861 and 1869. At that time it was one of the first neo-Gothic buildings in the region.
After 13 years of painstaking restoration, the mansion is now opening its doors to the public for the first time. Under the leadership of Carolin Grün-Müller and her husband Hans Joachim Müller, the couple has achieved an impressive transformation. The joy over the successful renovation is unmistakable, although the exact construction cost is not mentioned. However, the Müllers are very satisfied with the result.
A festival for architecture enthusiasts
Things will be particularly exciting on June 21st and 22nd, when the manor house is part of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Castle Server Midsummer Remise Festival, where 75 houses are open for viewing. Bus shuttles are intended to make the journey easier for visitors.
The manor house is part of tour 5 in the picturesque lake district. This will not only be about the architecture, but also about the inviting atmosphere that the interior exudes. A Berlin interior design office has combined historical elements with modern design ideas. The inner courtyard, surrounded by a small garden, conveys a calm aura - perfect for relaxing after sightseeing in the café that Carolin Grün-Müller is currently preparing.
Historical roots and renovation
But how did this renewal actually come about? The manor house has a long and eventful history. In 1612 it belonged to the von Aschersleben family and was later taken over by Reimar Ernst von Voß. From around 1700 to 1945 the manor house was owned by the von Klinggräff family. After the expropriation, the building experienced changeable use, which ultimately resulted in it being vacant in the 1980s.
It wasn't until 1996 that things began to move. The “Working Group for Monument Preservation” took over the manor house on a long-term lease with the intention of securing and renovating the building. However, these efforts have stagnated over the years. It was only in 2012, when the Müller couple acquired the manor house, that a comprehensive renovation began that did justice to the historical heritage and at the same time took into account the needs of today.
Craftsmen are currently working not only on the main building, but also on a new farm building, and further projects are planned. This includes the renovation of the old coach house, which will be preserved with great attention to detail. For anyone interested in the history and beauty of the manor houses in Mecklenburg, this gem is an absolute must and definitely worth a visit.
