On the night of August 12, 2025, more precisely at 3:55 a.m., the Neubrandenburg police were called to a burning vehicle on Hufeisenstrasse in the Reitbahnviertel. An older Porsche Panamera was on fire in a parking lot between “An der Rennbahn” and Reitbahnweg. The fire department arrived quickly, but was only able to extinguish the fire after it had caused considerable damage. The damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros, as Strelitzius reports.
The circumstances of the fire are extremely suspicious. The police have launched an investigation against unknown persons and there is suspicion of intentional arson and damage to property. This cannot just be left out of the question, because arson not only represents a serious infringement on property rights, but can also pose a significant danger to affected residents.

The investigators rely on information from the public. Anyone who saw suspicious people near the crime scene between 3:30 a.m. and 3:55 a.m. is asked to contact the Neubrandenburg police. Hotline: 0395 / 5582 5224. The information could be crucial in shedding light on the matter.
In general, Germany, and especially Neubrandenburg, has experienced a worrying increase in arson cases in recent years. According to a report by the Federal Criminal Police Office, there was a significant increase in cases recorded by the police between 2014 and 2024. In 2024, over 5,600 cases were already known, and this number has increased continuously since the 1990s, as shown by a Statista study.
Community action and greater collaboration between police and citizens could perhaps have a positive impact. In any case, it is important to remain vigilant as a community and report any situations that appear suspicious.
