Huge forest graffiti at Tollensesee: Neubrandenburg is blooming!
There is a new highlight in the beautiful city of Neubrandenburg - impressive street art that makes gray walls shine. The community foundation's “Street Art” campaign aims to visually improve dull areas in the city. The largest graffiti in the project has now been inaugurated at the picturesque Tollensesee. This work of art stands out with a length of 22 meters and shows enchanting forest motifs, including a deer, fox, owl, mushrooms and grasses. On the retaining wall along the cycling and hiking path around the lake, the graffiti is now an eye-catcher for citizens and visitors. As tagesschau.de reports, this project was financed not only by the passion of the local artists, but also by the support of the NDR campaign “Hand in Hand for Northern Germany”.
Thanks to the commitment of the citizens of Neubrandenburg, who not only actively participate in the beautification of their city but also donate financial resources, 160 switch boxes, transformer houses and walls have already been creatively designed. The donations range from a modest five to a significant 500 euros and make a decisive contribution to the realization of new graffiti. It's gratifying to see a community come together to make their city more colorful and welcoming.
Successful exhibition
Another sign of the creative spirit in Neubrandenburg was the exhibition “Graffiti in NB” and “Street Art in NB” in September, which was organized by the BürgerStiftung. The results of the projects created by talented artists such as MALZEITCREW and DESYR could be presented here. Visitors to the exhibition were surprised with a variety of different styles and techniques in two spacious rooms at the event. The opening took place on September 7th and was enriched by a laudatory speech by Caterine Muth and musical accompaniment. You could feel that the community is behind the project. 32 activists, donors and committed citizens were recognized for their contribution. The exhibition attracted around 280 visitors who not only appreciated the art but also left €1,799.25 in the donation box to support future projects. The enthusiasm was so great that many works of art were sold by the recreational artists.
In order to sustainably beautify the cityscape, further graffiti campaigns could also take place on transformer stations and similar buildings in the future. A suggestion came from committed citizens who would like to work with municipalities and network operators. It's a creative approach to adding color to dull places while taking the wind out of the wild sprayers' sails. filmpost.de also reports on this.
Overall, it shows that Neubrandenburg has a good knack for implementing creative projects and thus enlivening the cityscape. With the support of the city's citizens and creative minds, a variety of colorful highlights will certainly emerge in the future, making the city even more attractive.
