Traffic accident in Neubrandenburg: 82-year-old injured and towed away!

On the evening of June 30, 2025, a traffic accident occurred in Neubrandenburg, which kept both the emergency services and onlookers on their toes. At 8:05 p.m. there was a collision on Woldegker Straße between a Renault Twingo, driven by an 82-year-old woman, and a Mercedes A-Class, which was driven by a 56-year-old man. The pensioner had reduced her speed at a traffic light when the driver behind her failed to brake and drove off. According to news.de, the elderly lady suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Neubrandenburg Clinic for an examination.

Both vehicles were no longer drivable after the collision, which is why a towing company had to be called. The total damage is estimated at 10,000 euros. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is being carried out by the Neubrandenburg criminal police under the direction of Police Chief Inspector Sebastian Meinhardt. Thanks to the quick response of the emergency services, the injured driver was treated promptly and transported to the clinic.

Traffic accidents in the region

Road safety is an important topic that comes up again and again in Neubrandenburg. Compared to other regions, it can be seen that the slight decrease in traffic accidents in the Southeast Hesse police headquarters, with 13,859 accidents in 2024, contributes to the positive trend. The year before, 13,895 accidents were recorded, which is slightly increasing, but fortunately the number of seriously injured people has fallen to 355, compared to 392 in 2023, as ppsoh.polizei.hessen.de reports.

Despite these positive figures, there is unfortunately an increase in traffic deaths: 25 people lost their lives in traffic in 2024, while there were 19 in 2023. Vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists are also affected. This shows how important it is to drive responsibly and follow traffic rules.

In summary, it's not just about technical details and statistics; It is the personal fate of each accident victim that should be the focus. The most recent incident once again illustrates how quickly an accident can occur and how important it is to always be vigilant on the road.
