Waren's young bowling talent shines: 18:6 win against Brandenburg!

Last weekend the young bowlers shone in Neubrandenburg and provided exciting competitions. More than 1,500 young athletes competed in various disciplines at the 16th Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Youth Sports Games. Among the many competitions, medals and certificates were also fought for in bowling. The event took place on July 6th and 7th and was organized by the state sports association, the district sports association and the city administration, and over 400 volunteers ensured that things ran smoothly, despite heavy thunderstorms that forced the athletes' party into the foyer of the sports high school in the afternoon. However, despite the adverse weather conditions, spirits remained high and the party ended with exciting performances.

Focus on bowling

As part of these games, the bowling teams presented themselves at the youth country comparison between Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg. Here twelve bowlers from the U14 and U18 age groups competed against each other in a direct comparison. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was able to clearly prevail with 18:6 points and 6802:6598 wood. In the U14, Tessa Szabowsky from Waren shone with 557 wood and Adrian Berndt with a best 570 wood. The U18 also played well: Nele Müller from Stralsund scored 592 wood and Artur Hoppe from Brandenburg scored 595 wood.

A total of 41 children from six clubs in the Mecklenburg Lake District took part in the U10, U14 and U18 age groups. What was particularly noticeable was the offspring from Woldegk, who showed great dominance among the newcomers. Emma-Lynn Jeske (U10), Nora-Leeloo Jeske (U14) and Elias Söring (U14) each won the gold medal, while Marlon Holz from Stavenhagen was the best boy in the U10.

Tessa Szabowsky (541 wood) and Philipp Ast (567 wood) also stood out in the U14, and Sarah Wenzlaff, who started in the U18, impressed with 577 wood. By the way, she will compete for the Seenplatte bowlers next season.

The importance of bowling for youth development should not be underestimated.
