Village has been fighting for a sports field for 23 years: Now there is a risk of running out of money!

Mayor Wulf Bednorz of Blankensee is dissatisfied with the current situation surrounding the school sports field, the renovation of which has been on the agenda for a whopping 23 years. The sports field, which is supposed to meet the applicable standards, has experienced a cost development that has paid off: the original construction costs of 265,000 euros have now risen to 1.4 million euros. A financial burden that the community cannot take lightly. After all, 80,000 euros have already been invested in planning services, but the project is still in the clear. As the Nordkurier reported, several attempts at implementation failed, most recently due to a lack of attractive company offers.

A ray of hope on the horizon is the guaranteed funding of 950,000 euros, but there is still uncertainty about the payment modalities. In order to avoid a forfeiture of these funds, the municipality plans to return 300,000 euros in sports funding. Mayor Bednorz is optimistic that the funds will be approved again if a new application is submitted. In order to ensure that construction can begin this year, the municipality's own contribution was increased to 700,000 euros.

However, it looks like there remains uncertainty over construction tenders and Bednorz criticizes that sound economies are not being rewarded. While other communities benefit, things are looking rather poor for Blankensee. The community's hope was that the project would be completed by the end of the year, potentially avoiding costs of over two million euros. This is a goal that is also very important to the citizens of the region.

School construction and investments in view

rbb24 berichtet.

A concrete example of a successful new building is the Seepark primary school in Karlshorst. There, bright corridors, retreat rooms and well-thought-out architecture not only ensure a pleasant learning environment, but also educational advantages, as headmaster Olha Bull emphasizes. Nevertheless, it is also clear here that there is discussion about lowering the standards in order to take rising prices into account. Politicians like Torsten Kühne from the CDU see potential for savings, while the Greens are calling for environmental standards not to be left behind.

Support programs and financial opportunities

There are a variety of funding opportunities for publicly owned schools. Loud ilb.de Various structural measures such as new construction, renovation or expansion of school buildings are eligible for funding, with the grants usually amounting to 70 percent of the total eligible expenditure. In financially weak municipalities, the personal contribution can even be reduced to 10 percent.

Overall, the situation in Blankensee and beyond remains exciting. The mayonnaise of politics in school construction projects is being hotly debated not only in Northern Germany but also nationwide, and citizens are hoping that there will finally be movement in the rigid structures. A good hand in planning could be crucial to making schools fit for the future and offering younger generations the best possible learning conditions.
