New benches for Neustrelitz: Local, stylish and sustainable!

A fresh breeze is blowing through Neustrelitz's shopping mile: Strelitzer Straße will soon be equipped with new benches that are not only practical, but also have a special detail. Again Northern Courier reported, plans have been finalized to replace the old seating with a model that better suits Neustrelitz. With a fresh city logo and the baroque star on the sides, the new benches should not only be functional, but also eye-catching.

The decision about the new selection was made deliberately after the previous model, which featured a combination of gray and blue, was rejected by the monument protection authority. Instead of fighting the decision, the city administration decided to back down, making the planning process much easier.

Regional production and costs

Another advantage of the new benches: they are produced regionally. This is not only environmentally friendly, but also gives a boost to the local economy. The city has allocated a budget of 50,000 euros for this purchase, which corresponds to the previous offer from another manufacturer. A total of 16 new seats are planned to replace the existing metal benches.

However, the existing benches are not lost. Instead of disposing of them, they find a new home at other locations in the city. This means that a piece of history in Neustrelitz is preserved, while at the same time the public space is being redesigned.

Implementation period

The implementation of the new benches is planned for 2026. This measure will not only help refresh the cityscape, but also offer citizens an inviting opportunity to enjoy life on Strelitzer Straße.
