Five years of Neue Heimat”: Circus festival delights seniors in Hagenow!
There is a celebration in the small town of Hagenow! The “Neue Heimat” day care, which was founded by Susanka Block in 2020, can look back on a successful five-year history. The facility opened its doors amid the coronavirus pandemic and has since become a popular meeting place for seniors. What initially started as an uncertain venture has now developed into a place that 45 guests visit regularly. Around 20 seniors come every day, although many only enjoy the warm atmosphere one or two days a week.
Day care not only offers an opportunity to make social contacts, but also relieves the burden on seniors' relatives, who usually live in their own homes and are dependent on support. They often receive this support from family members or mobile care services who provide care services according to the SGB XI be billed. The costs are incurred either through the person in need of care's own assets or through a corresponding budget that is available for such services.
Birthday party with circus highlights
The 5th birthday was duly celebrated with a colorful circus festival. The “Ascona” circus amazed and thrilled the seniors with clowning and breathtaking acrobatics. A special highlight were the ball pythons “Dumbo” and “Benjamin”, which were introduced to the guests. “The seniors were fascinated by the animals and the acrobatics,” says Block, happy about the positive feedback from the visitors. At the end of the party there was a cozy barbecue where the community was strengthened again before the guests were brought home after an unforgettable day.

Social contacts and support
A special focus of the “Neue Heimat” day care is on promoting social contacts. Many visitors have expressed the desire to take advantage of the offers more often.
