On June 17, 2025, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a fire broke out in an apartment building on Johann-Georg-Barca-Straße in Ludwigslust. The cause of the fire, which started in the kitchen of an apartment, is currently unknown, according to various reports, including from news.de and presseportal.de, communicate.
Shortly after the fire broke out, 47 comrades from the volunteer fire departments from Ludwigslust, Techentin, Kummer and Hornkaten were mobilized to put out the fire and evacuate the residents. Investigations into negligent arson

While the fire was being extinguished, the fire site was confiscated by the criminal investigation service. Fortunately, no people were injured or any human damage reported. The estimated material damage amounts to around 500,000 euros.
