In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the love of cinema is very important! On the Wednesday before Christmas the MV film funding in the Pomeranian State Museum in Greifswald this year's cinema prize, which comes with a total prize money of 100,000 euros. 32 cinemas applied, and the big winner is the Wundervoll (li.wu.) cinema from Rostock, which was recognized for its outstanding annual program.
In her laudatory speech, State Minister of Culture Bettina Martin (SPD) discussed the importance of cinemas for cultural participation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. These houses are more than just places for film screenings - they are seismographs of society and important places of learning, as the managing director of film funding, Olaf Jacobs, aptly put it. The five-person jury, including Morticia Zschiesche, Jakob Kijas and Jürgen Hillmer, evaluated the creative diversity that the cinemas offer.

The Wundervoll cinema has been an important part of Rostock's cultural life since 1993 and is run by the Ro-Cine association. Here, European and international film art takes center stage, while blockbusters are left out.
