Storm in MV: Quiet night despite the threat of heavy rain!

In the north of Germany, more precisely in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Ostholstein, the severe weather warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) have caused all sorts of excitement. How NDR reported, the night and this morning remained largely quiet. There are no special incidents recorded in Rostock and the surrounding area, and the police report a normal volume of operations, without any major damage.

The warnings issued about extreme rainfall in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and other affected regions such as Saxony and Brandenburg deterred many. Last Sunday, a maximum warning level was issued for areas between Rostock and Stralsund as well as parts of the Baltic Sea island of Rügen, with rainfall amounts of up to 140 liters per square meter within a short period of time. Such conditions are directly due to Deep “Isaac”, which causes unstable and rainy weather in northern Germany.

Forecasts and preparations

The weather forecast is also anything but rosy: According to the current conditions, isolated thunderstorms and rain are to be expected in the coming days. The weather situation ensures a constant change of clouds, sun and sometimes heavy rain showers. The temperatures will fluctuate between 20 and 26 degrees.

The districts have already prepared for possible operations, the rescue control centers have been increased as a precaution and the technology has been put through its paces. In Rostock, the population was informed via a warning app, and the campsites on the Baltic Sea have also prepared for the persistent rain.

Caution is advised

Drivers in particular have to be prepared for treacherous conditions. Loud daily news The risk of flooding, aquaplaning and landslides is high in the affected regions. Additionally, further warnings were issued in some areas until midday today. This particularly affects northwest Mecklenburg and Ludwigslust-Parchim.

The weather didn't just leave its mark in MV. In other affected areas, such as Vogtland in Saxony, Autobahn 72 had to be closed due to flooding. Weather conditions also have an impact on the world of events: a planned concert by Robbie Williams in Berlin was postponed to a later date due to the storms.

Overall, the situation in northern Germany is tense, but a quiet morning in Rostock could give hope that the worst scenarios will not occur. However, the emergency services and authorities remain vigilant in order to be able to react quickly if the weather conditions worsen.
