On Friday afternoon, June 22, 2025, the fire departments from Papendorf, Brietzig and Pasewalk were alerted to fight a fire at the entrance to Autobahn 20. At around 4:15 p.m., the emergency services discovered that eight car tires were ablaze near the bus turning point, presumably intentionally dumped there. Around 30 firefighters were on site and fought the flames for about an hour. The cause of the fire raises serious suspicions of arson, particularly in view of a previous incident in the area in which a large pile of wood measuring approximately 20 by 20 meters, also presumably intentionally set on fire, burned. This pile of wood was near an empty house, making the situation even more dangerous.
