On June 29, 2025, the small but vital community of Polzow celebrated its 650th anniversary with a colorful program that focused on the history and community of the place. As the SVZ reported a festive service, a lively move and an evening celebration that the citizens and guests brought together.

The geographical location of Polzow is remarkable: located east of Pasewalk and near the federal road 104, the place is part of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and has around 250 to 261 inhabitants, as various statistics show. Thanks to the good transport connection, the residents can easily reach both the state capital Schwerin and the Metropolises Berlin and Szczecin, even if the latter is of course closer.

Back to the anniversary: ​​The colorful move required a short -term blocking of the busy federal road to enable all the groups that are viewing to enjoy the spectacle. In addition, an exhibition offered insights into the chronicle of the former estate village, which made the hearts of those present beat faster. Various local groups - including the fire brigade, the football club and a nationally known riding club - presented themselves and contributed to the happy atmosphere.

But Polzow's history goes far back. The place was first mentioned in 1375 and belonged to Prussia for more than 500 years and the Brandenburg Uckermark. A drastic event in history was the insolvency of the Polzow estate in 1934, which led to the distribution of the estate in 16 family farmers. The period after the Second World War was characterized by the ground reform, which, however, did not result in expropriations in the stem village. In addition, the founded LPG type I "Sun", which existed until 1980, was an important part of the life of the residents.

Polzow extends over an area of ​​8.51 km² and has a population density of around 30.67 inhabitants per square kilometer. The place is home to a large number of houses, including almost exclusively single -family houses. In the election surveys, the mayor Daniel Kowalk, who is supported by the “Friends of the Polzow Fire Brigade”, represented a leading role in the community that has a mayor representative of six members. The political stability and the commitment of the citizens are reflected in the municipal administration, which is based in Pasewalk.

As far as tourism activities are concerned, it can be said that there are currently no accommodation in Polzow, which is why the community is more of a place for everyday life than a tourist destination. But this does not reduce the attraction of the charming village, which shows a new face every weekend with its rich history and lively community.

Overall, one can say that the celebrations for the 650th anniversary of Polzow were not only a festival of the past, but also a lively testimony to the future of this fascinating community, which, surrounded by beautiful nature and traditional agriculture, continues to take an important place in the heart of Western Pomerania.
