Budget crisis in Bad Doberan: Alarm about missing annual financial statements!
The city of Bad Doberan is currently facing a major challenge: the budget for the next two years cannot be drawn up. The NDR reports this because the missing annual financial statements from 2020 to 2024 are significantly hindering planning. In the city council, the CDU is therefore calling for a tight schedule for the presentation of these annual financial statements in order to finally shed light on the matter. Mayor Jochen Arenz, who has made a name for himself as a non-party politician, admits staff shortages and work that has been left behind.
In order to improve the situation, temporary positions and external help are planned. A new schedule will be agreed upon, which will then be presented to the city council. In the midst of these organizational problems, the immediate dismissal of an auditor causes irritation. Mayor Arenz cannot comment on the details of this dismissal for labor law reasons. However, the staff council and a labor judge approved the measure.
Public participation for citizens
It is important that concerns about the state police can also be addressed. Anyone who would like to take part should bring relevant documents such as notices and correspondence with the authorities. The Ombudsman is an independent constitutional body that provides assistance in social matters, especially for people with disabilities. However, no advice can be given in private law matters relating to court proceedings.
Dr. Christian Frenzel, who has been in office since March 1, 2024, regularly holds consultation days across the country. This is a valuable opportunity for citizens to engage in direct dialogue and raise their concerns.
The current situation in Bad Doberan is a challenge that both the city administration and the citizens are actively addressing. The coming months will show whether the new timeline and the support sought will be effective in getting the city's urgent financial matters on track.
