New twist in the Fabian case: mother defends herself against allegations!

A tragic case is currently being reopened in Güstrow. The investigation into the disappearance of eight-year-old Fabian is still ongoing. The matter began devastatingly on October 10, 2025, when the boy was reported missing. Fabian's mother, Dorina L., now spoke out in an interview and rejected reports that suggested that Fabian had left the house in consultation with her. According to her account, this account is not true. Instead, Fabian was asked that Friday morning whether he wanted to go to school or stay at home - his choice fell on the latter, as he had been picked up early from school the day before because he was feeling unwell.

The mother left the house at 8:30 a.m. after a heartfelt “love you, see you later.” Dorina had agreed with Fabian that he shouldn't go outside until she got back. To pass the time for her son, she unlocked his cell phone. When she returned, however, she found Fabian no longer in the apartment. After unsuccessful searches among friends and the father, she finally informed the police about her child's disappearance. On October 15th, the terrible truth became apparent: a walker discovered a child's body in a forest near Klein Upahl, about 20 kilometers from Güstrow. A DNA analysis confirmed that it was Fabian and the autopsy revealed that he was the victim of a violent crime. The Rostock public prosecutor's office has started an investigation into manslaughter. Unfortunately, there have been no arrests in the case so far.

Investigations and Impact

The police have focused their investigation on the boy's surroundings and where the body was found. A dry pond nearby is also examined in detail. The exact circumstances of Fabian's death and how he ended up in Klein Upahl remain unclear. Dorina's statement and the circumstances of the crime raise many questions that have not yet been answered.

This terrible case joins the frightening statistics that around 1,800 children in Germany are currently registered as missing, as Spiegel reports. The grief over the loss of a child is immeasurable and shows how much this case means to the community in Güstrow and beyond. The fate of those affected touches many people and leaves no one unmoved.

The name Fabian itself has an interesting history. He comes from a Latin family called Fabius, which means "nectar" or "food of the gods", and has a connection to Greek mythology, where the goddess Febe is associated with intellect and prophecy. In the Catholic Church, St. Fabian is remembered on January 20th and is a symbol of care and kindness, qualities that should be remembered now more than ever.

What remains are questions and the hope that the investigators will soon find answers and justice can be done for Fabian. Until then, the community's thoughts and prayers will be with the family and especially with the mother who has suffered an incredible loss.
