The last day of the year is in full swing and the anticipation of the turn of the year is increasing in the region around Rostock. At 11 a.m., the courageous ice bathers of the Rostock Seals dare to jump into the cold Baltic Sea. The water temperature is a refreshing 5 degrees. Important highlights are also planned for tomorrow: New Year's bathing with the “ice bathing masters” will take place on Warnemünde Beach at 1:30 p.m., despite the cold water temperatures.

The New Year is welcomed not only with bold actions, but also with musical delights. There is a wide range of New Year's Eve concerts in Rostock. At the Volkstheater Rostock there will be a concert in the Great House at 3 p.m., where spontaneous concert goers may still be able to secure remaining tickets at the box office. From 9 p.m. there will be a concert with trumpet, saxophone and organ in the Warnemünde Evangelical Church, enriched by readings that round off the evening. The Ernst Barlach Theater in Güstrow and the parish church also provide musical entertainment.

For film fans, there will be a New Year's Eve concert live from the Berlin Philharmonic at the Capitol Rostock cinema from 5 p.m. Another highlight of the evening are the New Year's Eve parties, which take place at various locations in the region. It starts at 6 p.m. in the Bad Doberan multi-purpose hall, while a festival with fireworks and a buffet will be celebrated in the Güstrow community center from 7 p.m. A musical program awaits guests in the West Kühlungsborn concert garden, including fireworks over the pier.

The New Year's swim at the pier on January 1st had to be canceled due to the weather, but the tradition of lighting the tower in Warnemünde will continue quietly. At 6 p.m. the New Year will be welcomed for the 26th time with lights, laser beams and fireworks.
