Paula Huth from TC FIKO Rostock: Sprint star on the way to the European Championships!
The 2025 triathlon season has already offered some exciting highlights for the juniors. National title holders for the A and B youth as well as the juniors have now been determined, and the squad classification for the coming year, the junior squad II and the state squad, is almost completed. The focus is particularly on TC FIKO Rostock, which is pleased with the positive development in the team and hopes for a possible appointment to the NK2. This is reported by the Northern Courier.
One face that deserves special mention here belongs to Paula Huth from Youth A. She not only met the nomination criteria of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) several times, but also recently won an impressive silver medal at the national title fights in Roth. She also secured second place in the DTU Youth Cup. These performances are crucial for the upcoming nomination and show that Paula is well on the way to starting in the youth European Cup next year.
A look at the competition
However, the competition never sleeps. Junior Anton Lange was unable to maintain his eligibility for the NK2 due to an unfortunate wheel crash during pre-season preparation. On the other hand, Hedi Winkelmann is planning to defend his title at the highly regarded event “Youth trains for the Olympics” in collaboration with the CJD. The other young people in the club are also paying attention: Niklas Merkord is leading the Cup of the Triathlon State Association of Youth A, while Hanna Bernecker and Niclas Merkord are taking top positions among the A students.
In the B-Youth, Julian Lange is in the lead, followed by Tilda Huth and Nila-Luise Meyer, who are on an equal rank. Kaarlo Fritz Tautorat is the leading athlete in the C class. These top performers from TC FIKO Rostock bring a breath of fresh air to the event and offer a high competitive spirit.
The challenges of the nomination
The nomination decisions for the upcoming competitions are made by the DTU competitive sports committee, which takes various factors into account. In addition to sporting performance, aspects such as the World Triathlon ranking and the athletes' current form also factor into the decisions. If there are more qualified athletes than places, the final decision lies with the DTU Executive Board German Triathlon Union informed.
It will be crucial for Paula and her teammates over the next few months to continue to prove themselves and keep an eye on the goals they have set for 2026 – the Junior European Championships. The anticipation is great and there is hope that the hard work of the past few months will soon be rewarded so that they can demonstrate their skills on the international stage.
The TC FIKO Rostock is ready for the challenges of the next competitions and is actively pursuing its ambitious goals. The course for a successful future appears to be set.
