The Rostock Seawolves are looking forward to the future with their latest signing. How Northern Courier Reportedly, the Seawolves have signed Belgian center Andy Van Vliet. The 29-year-old comes from Trefl Sopot, where he won the Polish championship last season. With an impressive height of 2.13 meters, Van Vliet not only brings a present physical advantage, but also experience from various European leagues.
In the 2023/24 season he performed not only in Poland, but also in Greece and France. In his 45 games, he averaged 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds - values that indicate his skill level. Sports director Kevin Anstett placed particular emphasis on Van Vliet's versatility, as he can play in both the fifth and fourth positions. He will take over Malik Osborne's role and could therefore play a crucial role in the Seawolves' squad.
The career of Andy Van Vliet
The Belgian center began his professional career in Lithuania with BC Šiauliai in the summer of 2020. There he showed that he is one of the talented players with 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He then went on to Israel, where he spent two years with Bnei Herzliya, hoisting the Israeli Cup and averaging around 10 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He celebrated his greatest successes in recent seasons when he won the Polish championship with Sopot.
In January 2025, Van Vliet initially signed with Maroussi BC in Greece, but left the club after just nine appearances. Before his commitment to Rostock, he played for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque in France and also showed impressive performances here with an average of 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in just over 20 minutes of playing time.

The anticipation of working with coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz is clearly noticeable in Van Vliet. “I’m really looking forward to the challenge and the new season in Rostock,” he said optimistically.
