What a weekend is coming up in Schwerin! On Friday and Saturday, July 12th and 13th, the Stadtwerke Beach Festival invites you to celebrate and be amazed. The colorful activities take place in two picturesque locations, the Zippendorfer Strand and the Rabbit Werder Island. Admission is of course free, which means there is something for everyone.

The Schwerin public utilities have brought a real highlight to the city with this festival. As nordkurier.de reports, visitors can look forward to numerous hands-on activities, sports activities and music. No matter whether young or old, everyone will find a suitable activity here. Regional clubs present their sports – from Aikido to rhythmic gymnastics to bachata dance.

Sport and fun for everyone

Beach sports are very popular! At the Energy Arena, classic ball sports can be experienced on the beach: beach soccer, beach handball and even a boxing ring for sports enthusiasts. There are lots of attractions for little visitors in the “Stromzwerge Kinderland”, such as trampolines, water games, bouncy castles and a giant slide. The Neptune baptism on Sunday is another highlight that families can look forward to. There is also an SAS balloon crane that offers exciting views.

Musical entertainment is another big part of the festival. On Friday, the famous Conchita Wurst will perform in the castle garden, accompanied by the Mecklenburg State Orchestra. Listeners can expect these emotional sounds at 8 p.m. In addition, various bands and artists such as “MISCH MASCH”, “Fuzzy Chameleons and Friends” and “Pastor Leumund” provide a diverse music program on Friday evening. On Saturday, not only Anica and Leo will be performing during the festival, but the band Strandfunk and DJ Patrick Keimel will also be playing, which guarantees the right atmosphere. On Sunday, visitors can take part in an NDR choir contest in which nine choirs compete for the title.

Culinary discoveries and engagement

There is also a lot to discover culinary on the island of Hakenwerder. The ferry takes visitors to a place full of natural beauty, where guided tours, taster fishing, archery and yoga are available. Visitors should definitely try culinary specialties, poetically referred to as “island bread”.

A special commitment is also shown at the “Cloud-Free Time” summer festival on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Amtstraße 6. Collections are made here for children with autism, ADHD and diabetes. Activities such as face painting and a tombola ensure a good mood, while the proceeds go to the Fridolin outpatient children's hospice service and the “Fruchtalarm” project.
