USC Münster celebrates a spectacular comeback in the tiebreak against Schwerin!
An exciting start to the season for USC Münster! In a thrilling duel against title contender SSC Palmberg Schwerin, USC managed to prevail 3-2 in a thrilling tiebreak. The Berg Fidel sports hall was filled to capacity on October 13, 2025, when 2,124 volleyball fans enthusiastically cheered on their team's performance. The sequence of sentences reads like a drama: 20:25, 25:22, 21:25, 25:21, and finally the deciding sentence at 15:13.
The game was characterized by high playing qualities and long rallies. Schwerin prevailed in the first set, but USC Münster showed strength and equalized in the second set. The third set, which again went to Schwerin, offered another area of tension. But thanks to a strong series of serves from Anke Waelkens in the fourth set, Münster fought for the decision. In the tiebreak, the team was initially 1:6 behind, but was able to equalize to 9:9 and finally secured the victory. An attacking mistake by Schwerin sealed the defeat for the guests and thus the opening success for USC Münster.
Individual highlights
Particularly noteworthy is the performance of setter Emilia Jordan, who was awarded the gold MVP medal for her strong actions. Schwerin libero Mia Kirchhoff received the silver MVP award. Coach Matthias Pack was visibly proud of his players and praised their character and the energy they showed during the game, which made them strong at such a crucial moment.
