In an informative meeting, hydrologist Heiko Henning informed the islanders about the upcoming challenges in the drinking water supply on Usedom. The event organized by the water supply and wastewater disposal association for the island of Usedom took place in Usedom city and attracted around 60 interested citizens. Henning presented a demand forecast that has been carefully developed over the years and which comes to a clear conclusion: Even if all of the tourism expansion goals that have already been decided are implemented by 2030, an increase in water demand is expected. This could soon lead to problems with the water supply, especially in the imperial baths.

Challenge from growing tourism

The challenges of water supply are closely related to the increase in beds and the need to develop additional water resources.
