Hastenbeck women start in the regional league – 4400 km on the way!

The Hastenbeck football women have done it! They have been promoted to the Regionalliga Nord and are facing an exciting new challenge. This league, the third highest in German women's football, covers the federal states of Lower Saxony, Hamburg, Bremen and Schleswig-Holstein and has been run under the name Regionalliga Nord since 1994. It used to be called Oberliga Nord and was the highest women's league in northern Germany.

A look at the tasks ahead shows that the Hastenbeck team members have to cover a total of around 4,400 kilometers during their 11 away games. This new sporting dimension not only brings with it increased requirements, but also considerable logistical effort. Manager Hendrik Lity remains optimistic and plans to travel by bus or private car depending on the distance. For example, the journey to Hannover 96 is a comfortable 47 kilometers, while the journey to Aurich is a whopping 316 kilometers. Aurich qualified for the league through a relegation game against Hagen Ahrensburg and was also the final opponent of SV Hastenbeck in the previous games.

A new path for the coach and the team

Coach Bianca Lity is breaking new ground with her team, as eight opponents are new to the Hastenbeckers in the regional league. Of the twelve teams currently playing in the league, four are from Hamburg: HSV II, FC St. Pauli, Eimsbütteler SV and Victoria Hamburg. Schleswig-Holstein also has two representatives, Holstein Kiel and SV Henstedt-Ulzburg, while Bremen is represented twice by ATS Buntentor and Werder II.

Things will be particularly exciting in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, where the women have to play four away games. The itinerary promises exciting duels:

  • SpVg. Aurich: 316 km
  • Holstein Kiel: 303 km
  • Henstedt-Ulzburg: 244 km
  • HSV II: 225 km
  • FC St. Pauli: 210 km
  • Victoria Hamburg: 210 km
  • Eimsbütteler SV: 210 km
  • TSV Barmke: 150 km
  • Buntentor Bremen: 145 km
  • Werder Bremen II: 145 km
  • Hannover 96: 47 km

As usual, SV Hastenbeck will host the home games at Reuteranger. The start of training is planned for July 14th, and the new additions to the team should be confirmed by this date. It will be exciting to see how the newly assembled team will perform.

A look into the future

The challenges are great, but so are the opportunities. At the end of each championship year, the last two teams are usually relegated. But the championship also offers opportunities: the champions of the Regionalliga Nord have the chance to fight in two promotion games against the champions of the Regionalliga Nordost for a place in the 2nd women's Bundesliga.

The Regionalliga Nord is therefore not only a pure competitive experience, but also a springboard for the teams that are at the top. With the right attitudes and a bit of perseverance, SV Hastenbeck could have a nice adventure in the regional league.
