New fire department tractor in Wiesmoor: Revolution for disaster protection!

An exciting project has been set up in Lower Saxony, more precisely in the city of Wiesmoor. A team of dedicated firefighters, engineers and developers worked for over two years to create a very special unique item in the field of disaster control: a fire department tractor. This prototype, which is now being tested, could revolutionize the operations of the volunteer fire department.

The tractor, which is based on a John Deere 6R 250 and is equipped with 300 hp, has already caused a stir across Europe after just two weeks in the Aurich district. The Wiesmoor Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be driving this innovative tractor in a practical test. Developed by Rebo Special Vehicles, it is designed specifically for a wide range of fire and disaster control tasks and benefits from the experience and knowledge of experienced firefighters.

Technical details and functions

This vehicle scores highly when it comes to technical details: with a displacement of 6.7 liters and a top speed of 50 km/h, it is not only powerful, but also maneuverable and can be used on rough terrain. What is particularly impressive is the enormous water tank capacity of 12,000 liters in combination with a high-performance pump that can pump up to 6,000 liters of water per minute. In addition, the fording ability of up to 1.2 meters allows you to cross waters safely, which is particularly invaluable during flood events.

A notable feature is the pressurized cabin with an effective filtration system that supports the use of breathing apparatus. The electric extinguishing monitors and a cable winch with 67 kilonewtons and 80 meters of steel cable expand the application possibilities enormously. There are also optional modules for a sandbag filling system, flood pumps and a clearing blade, which can be useful in various application scenarios.

Met with great interest

The project not only thrilled the experts, but also reached the general public. With several hundred firefighters at the launch and millions of clicks on social media, the new emergency equipment has attracted a lot of attention. The video clip of the presentation went viral and the response is mostly positive. However, there are also critical voices who consider the maximum speed of 50 km/h to be too slow and discuss the costs and brand issues.

The planned test phase by the Wiesmoor Volunteer Fire Department will last one year, which will enable a comprehensive evaluation of the fire department tractor. Whether the vehicle will go into series production later and what prices users will face remains unclear for the time being. For the emergency services, however, the innovative spirit that went into this project is already a big step into the future of disaster control.
