Brutal robbery of a senior citizen: clues searched for file number XY!
In a monstrous crime that shocked all of Lower Saxony, a 91-year-old man was the victim of a brutal robbery in his own home in Delligsen, Kaierde district. The incident occurred on the night of March 1, 2024, when two unmasked perpetrators violently broke into the senior's apartment. The attack is now the focus of a ZDF program that will be broadcast on November 26, 2025 at 8:15 p.m. in “Aktenzeichen XY… Unsolved” in order to collect new clues. [NDR].
The attack was frightening: the two perpetrators tied up and gagged the elderly man in the living room and ransacked his home in search of cash and valuables. After several hours, the senior was finally able to free himself and alerted his relatives, who immediately called the police. Despite a manhunt being launched immediately, the perpetrators remained undiscovered for the time being. HNA also reports that the senior was seriously injured during the incident and was treated on site by an emergency doctor.
Reward and investigation
The Hildesheim public prosecutor's office has offered a reward of 5,000 euros for information that leads to the capture of the perpetrators. There is a suspicion that the robbery is related to another criminal incident in the Vechta area, as a matching DNA trace was found. Interestingly, similar robberies have also been noticed in the area, further hampering the investigation. Chief Detective Ralf Schreck, who is leading the investigation and will soon be retiring, will also appear in the TV show. [NDR].
Another distressing case that recently caused a stir at the same time was a store robbery in February 2024, also by the same alleged perpetrators. Here too, a reward of 50,000 euros was offered by the owner. It is hoped that the TV show will shed light on the matter and that the investigating authorities will get the information they need to solve this case and put the perpetrators behind bars.
Crime statistics in Lower Saxony
The current criminal statistics of the state of Lower Saxony 2023 makes it clear that the number of robberies has increased in recent years, which is a necessity for the public and the police emphasizes that we should take joint action against such crimes.
In a planned contribution from “Aktenzeichen XY… Unsolved”, a twelve-minute film will be broadcast that recreates the brutal attack. The goal is to pique the public's interest and potentially provide crucial clues. After the previous broadcasts, there was already a lot of feedback that could perhaps lead to solving these gruesome crimes.
