Mosque festival in Braunschweig: An intercultural festival for the senses!
The DITIB community in Braunschweig celebrated a very special event at the beginning of October: the traditional mosque festival took place from October 3rd to 5th, which also celebrated the community's 40th anniversary. On Friday in particular, the focus was on the Open Mosque Day, which drew attention to the coexistence of people of different cultures and religions in the heart of the city. The focus here was on promoting a common understanding and celebrating diversity. News38 reports that...
A highlight of the festival was a mocha stand that was specially flown in from Turkey. Here there was the opportunity to prepare the mocha in the traditional way on the sand. This process was very appealing to visitors, who not only admired the preparation but also learned all sorts of information about the history and meaning of mocha. The aromatic coffee was served with the sweet specialty Lokum, which led to many smiling faces among the guests.
Culinary impressions and cultural exchange
The mosque festival also offered visitors a colorful insight into Turkish cuisine. From kebabs to lahmacun and revani to baklava - there was something for every palate. BBB Döner World, as a sponsor of the event, was also able to come up with a delicious kebab variation. The smells and aromas that wafted across the festival grounds attracted many hungry guests and created an exuberant atmosphere.
The festival not only showcased culinary knowledge, but was also an important place for intercultural exchange. It brought people from different backgrounds together and promoted better understanding between cultures. Personal contact and conversations over delicious food played a central role and ensured that every visitor had the chance to discover something new.
Outlook on future projects
In addition to the celebratory events, the DITIB community also announced a new series of events for school and college students designed to stimulate interest in intercultural topics. An education center will be opened in the community's newly renovated building, which will also house a children's mosque. There are eight educators here to look after children between the ages of 3 and 6 - a truly valuable contribution to integration and cultural education. The Council of Muslims in Braunschweig is also active and is planning interreligious projects in the future that will promote cooperation between different religious communities.
The mosque festival and the anniversary celebrations were not only a pleasant event, but also the start of many other initiatives that will promote togetherness and exchange. The DITIB community proves that intercultural understanding is not only possible, but also necessary. Braunschweig can look forward to an exciting future in which cooperation will be further strengthened.
