Giant night run in Braunschweig: the city center becomes a restricted zone!

A special highlight is coming up: On Friday, June 27th, the 39th Braunschweig Night Run will put the city in a festive mood. The latest information on closures and diversions shows what this means for drivers and bus users.

From the afternoon onwards, the city center will be closed to vehicle and bicycle traffic. The closures begin at around 3 p.m. in the area of the old town market, followed by a closure of the Bohlweg towards the south from 4 p.m. In addition, the northern Georg-Eckert-Straße will remain closed until early Saturday morning, June 28th, until around 1:30 a.m. Those who know the area are therefore asked to avoid the area as far as possible to avoid chaos. Anyone planning to drive into the city center should urgently consider alternative routes. Braunschweig.de reports that ...

Diversions and alternative stops

The bus routes that serve the “Rathaus” stop will also be affected. It is therefore advisable to divert lines 411, 413, 416 and 422 to Wilhelmstraße, as the regular stops “Packhof”, “Hintern Brüdern” and “Altstadtmarkt” cannot be served. For bus lines 418, 423, 450 and 480, all trips start at this alternative stop and follow the detour described. The “Campestrasse” and “Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz” stops will also be temporarily eliminated. Nahverkehr38.de points out that...

There is a special feature for everyone who is traveling in the city area and still wants to take part in the night run: the start number for the night run is valid as a ticket in all BSVG vehicles within tariff zone 40 from three hours before the start until the end of operations. A really good deal for the runners and everyone who wants to take advantage of the festivities!

Important information for drivers and pedestrians

Pedestrians are allowed to cross the Bohlweg until around 5.45 p.m., after which alternative crossing options are planned. There are also some changes for taxis: The stopping places on Bohlweg, Münzstrasse and Südstrasse are temporarily eliminated, and replacement stopping places have been set up on Fallersleber Strasse and Kalenwall. The latter will be available from 3 p.m.

The city center definitely remains lively. The parking garage at the castle can only be reached via Georg-Eckert-Straße, while the Packhof parking garage is closed due to construction work. Drivers should therefore think carefully about where they want to park. It is recommended that you follow the signs and instructions on site.

The night run begins at 6 p.m. and takes participants through a festive route from Bohlweg along various streets, including the Old Town Market and Parsilienstrasse, to the final baking point on the dam. An event that “is something happening” and that the whole city can look forward to.

So if you want to get something rolling this Friday, you should inform yourself in good time and keep an eye on the upcoming changes!
