Christmas magic in Braunschweig: fir trees illuminate the cathedral square!

What’s new in Braunschweig? The pre-Christmas season has begun! Two magnificent Nordmann firs, each about ten meters high, shine on the cathedral square and at the old town market. These green giants come from a regional garden center and were installed by the city's urban green department on behalf of Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH. The lights of the trees will shine after Dead Sunday and get visitors in the mood for the coming Christmas season. The city of Braunschweig reports this in detail on its website.

The Braunschweig Christmas market 2025 is also in the starting blocks and will open its doors on November 26th. Until December 29th, visitors can expect 140 festively decorated market stalls that offer not only handicrafts but also culinary delicacies. Between 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. the stalls invite you to browse and enjoy, while the market is quiet on December 24th and 25th. On the opening day, the market fun begins at 5:45 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. On the last day, December 29th, the market closes at 8:00 p.m.

Best accessibility and sustainable energy

The Christmas market is ideal to reach by public transport; stops are located directly at the town hall, castle and on Münzstrasse. In order to accommodate environmentally conscious visitors, BS Energy supplies natural electricity from 100 percent renewable generation for the entire Christmas market season. A sustainable concept that is becoming increasingly popular.

Thanks to the support of partners and sponsors such as Heimbs Kaffee GmbH and Co. KG and the Schaustellerverband Braunschweig e. V., a festive experience is guaranteed this year too. The variety of stands and offers will certainly ensure a pleasant stroll during the Advent season.
