A look back at 50 years of child protection

The Child Protection Association Bochum also looks back on 50 years. Founded in 1975, the association advocates for the rights and well-being of children and young people in Bochum. Over the past five decades, numerous projects and initiatives have been launched that help to improve the living conditions of young people.

The offering ranges from advisory services for families to voluntary guardianships and prevention programs in schools. Leisure activities for children and young people are also part of the commitment. Close cooperation with local authorities and institutions ensures that a strong network can be created to protect children. As part of this, an open day is also being planned at Klarastraße 10 in order to present the projects to a broader public.

Because children’s rights count

The work of the child protection associations is consistent with the principles of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This was signed to protect the rights of all children worldwide. Particularly important are the articles that emphasize measures for the physical and psychological recovery of children who have been victims of abuse or neglect. There is a demand that these children be healed and reintegrated in a supportive environment.

Promoting and raising awareness of children's rights is of fundamental importance. States parties are required to publish information about progress in the implementation of children's rights and to communicate with each other. This ensures that every child's right to a life with dignity, respect and self-respect is safeguarded.

The Child Protection Association in Celle and Bochum are pioneers of the great commitment to children's rights. The 50th anniversary celebrations are not only a reason to celebrate, but also an incentive for the future to continue to actively promote the well-being of children.
