On Friday, December 5, 2025, the Celle City Church invites you to a special musical experience. Under the title “Breathing break in Advent” chamber music will be played from 6 p.m., inviting you to pause and enjoy. This event is not only an opportunity to get in the mood for the contemplative Advent season, but also to enjoy outstanding musical contributions.
The participants in the performance are Kerstin Weise (vocals), Gerald Splitt (recorder) and Elisabeth Michaelis (continuo organ), who present a varied program. You can hear works by classical greats such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and Alessandro Marcello. Particular highlights will be the Advent cantata “Vor des lichten Tagesschein” by Telemann as well as texts by Father Thomas Marx, which complement the musical performances.
The stage: Celle town church
The town church of Celle, which is located at town church 8, plays a central role in the city's cultural life with its impressive organ. This organ has a long history dating back to the 15th century. The current organ dates from 1653 and was built by Hermann Kröger and Berend Hus. It has changed significantly over the centuries, but the characteristic Baroque style remains to this day.
