A colorful farewell recently took place in the heart of Barnstorf, which was all about gratitude and appreciation. On [14. The emotional ceremony took place in the town hall in front of her colleagues, political representatives as well as her husband Heiner and her two children Jantje and Jasper. In keeping with the motto of the farewell, the guests happily all wore something pink - a loving symbol at this special moment.

Frauke Brüning looks back on an impressive career in which she worked for over ten years as head of Department 2 – Order and Social Affairs – at the Barnstorf municipality. Her career began after graduating from high school in Celle, followed by training as a district inspector, which laid the foundation for a long-term career in public service. Her positions took her through various districts, most recently in 2015 when she was appointed head of the department in Barnstorf.

A look at the career

In her 40 years of service, Brüning has mastered numerous offices and tasks with flying colors. Starting with her training with the Celle district from 1981 to 1984, through her appointment as district inspector in 1987, to her return from parental leave in 1997, her CV impressively shows her commitment to public service. She celebrated her 40th anniversary in 2021, which underlined the appreciation of her loyal service.

The mayor of the joint municipality, Alexander Grimm, acknowledged her loyalty and reliability in his speech and thanked her for her tireless efforts. Political representatives also paid their respects during their last technical committee meetings.

New phase of life, new commitment

Frauke Brüning is optimistic about the future. After officially retiring in 2026, she plans to spend more time with her family. She has also already indicated that she will continue to be involved in various clubs and on the church council. Projects like the Huntezauber and the family fair are particularly close to her heart and she intends to make her contribution.

Her departure comes at a time when the proportion of women in leadership positions is continually increasing. As the Federal Government announced in its most recent information, the current proportion of women in the public service is 45%. This positive development shows that the commitment of women like Brüning in leadership positions is still in demand and necessary.
