Altenhagen Fire Department: City Cup winner at the anniversary march!
There was a lot going on in Altenhagen on June 14, 2025: The local fire department not only celebrated its 90th anniversary, but also 15 years of youth fire department. This special celebration was celebrated with an exciting competitive march in which around 30 teams, consisting of firefighters and private groups, competed against each other over a distance of 10 kilometers. The participants had to complete a variety of tasks from the areas of firefighting, sport and fun, and the mood was consistently positive. How Bild.de reported, the route around Altenhagen became a hot competitive arena.
The big winner among the fire brigade teams was the 4th platoon of the Celle-Hauptwache local fire brigade, which won the city cup for the best fire brigade group of the Celle city fire brigade. In the private teams, the shooting men from the Altenhagen shooting community prevailed and were able to claim first place. Unfortunately that wasn't enough for the city cup, but the fun that all participants had was worth its weight in gold.
A celebration of community
To celebrate the day, the Altenhagen local fire department was more than satisfied with how the event went and the response from the spectators. A big thank you went out to all the helpers who contributed to the success of the day. And as befits a proper celebration, the day ended with a cozy get-together at the Altenhagen fire station, where there were many good conversations and plenty of story-sharing.
But it's not just the fire brigade celebrations that are noteworthy. The youth fire brigade as an independent youth group of the volunteer fire brigade plays an important role in Germany, which is proven by the founding history of the German youth fire brigade. This was launched in 1964 and has since offered young people the opportunity to engage with fire services and social tasks in a playful way. Their goal is to train youth in danger awareness, responsibility and teamwork while building a strong community. How jugendfeuerwehr.de shows, over 96,500 young firefighters have now found their place in more than 4,500 youth fire departments in Germany.
The performance march in Altenhagen is not only a great boost for the local fire department, but also a sign of the appreciation of the youth fire department's work, which inspires so many young people every day. Cheers to the camaraderie and tireless efforts of the volunteers! Strong together – that is the spirit of the fire department and the youth fire department in Altenhagen.
