Music and words about the market time: organ sounds in the city church of Celle!

Next Saturday, July 19, 2025, the time has come again: The city church of Celle invites you to the popular series of events "AN) at 12 noon. Under the direction of the organist Holger Brandt from Walsrode, visitors can expect a musical pleasure that ensures a break from everyday life for half an hour. The program is opened by the sounds of the "Fantasy and Fugue C minor" and brings the works of the composer Georg Böhm closer, which is not for nothing in the focus of the afternoon. Böhm had a significant influence on the great Johann Sebastian Bach in Lüneburg.

The afternoon is supplemented by the performance of the choral processing "Father in our in the Empire" and the cycle "Loy you very much, o my soul". Gabriele Ahnert-Sundermann, who is responsible for the text part, will accompany the musical performances with suitable words. "Approaching" not only offers space for music, but also for reflection and the exchange with others, which is very opposed to the concept of the series, such as the Website of the Church Celle explained.

a place of calm and reflection

The "AN (Ge) thought" series takes place from June to September 2025 in the St. Marien town church and is held every Saturday at 12 noon. The idea behind it is simple and yet profound: pausing, listening and taking strength in often stressful everyday life. Music and spiritual impulses are combined on these Saturdays, and artists from Celle, the church district and external guests can be thrilled. For example, Negin Habibi performed her skills on the concert guitar on June 7th and proved that the musical wealth in Celle is diverse.

For those who love the baroque sounds, it will be exciting on June 21st: In this context, the soprano Kerstin Weise and the recorder ensemble present works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel and Georg Philipp Telemann. The Messages about Lower Saxony describe this period of music as rich and harmoniously complex and refer to a deep influence on modern musical styles as jazz and Pop.

cultural participation for all

The series has set itself the goal of promoting cultural participation and giving access to classical music for a wide audience. Admission is free of charge, but donations at the outcome are requested in order to be able to finance future events. The last appointments visited show that the concept works: from Duo Riccarda Schikarski to ensemble contributions from the region-the diversity guarantees a varied program.

A look at the further dates: In August, guests can expect an organ program with Lothar Mohn and the Rhegius quartet and in September there are already highlights such as a concert with Elisabeth Michaelis and Benjamin Dippel, the new regional church music director.

This series will be given to the oasis of reflection and joy in the City City Church - so do not miss out if music and words flow together to draw new energy!
