Student of the Collège de Mirepoix: Adventure on 200 km cycle path!

Celle, Deutschland - The students of the 4E2 of the Collège de Mirepoix have recently taken a remarkable bike tour. The starting point was her school, which at the end of an intensive preparation time she led to a journey of over 200 kilometers on the Mediterranean coast. This trip to Gruissan was not only sporty, but also strongly focused on Ecocitoyenneté, i.e. environmental awareness. In order to optimally adapt to the challenge, the students took part in endurance and technology training in mountain biking within a short time. Particularly noteworthy is the “Plastique à la Loupe” project, which sensitized the children to important environmental issues.

The route started in Mirepoix and led via Bram along the Canal du Midi and the Canal de la Robine. In stations such as the water treatment plant in La Tour du-Crieu and the dam of the Lac de Montbel, the students received additional information about environmental issues. The experiences were reinforced by the group's team spirit; The participants supported the preparations and meals, which strongly promoted the community. Even the heat could not spoil her determination and good mood, so that the trip will be remembered as an enriching experience.

education and cyclisme

In addition to the student adventures in the field of cycling, there were also exciting developments at the international level. The Union Cyclist Internationale (UCI) and Peace and Sport recently launched the "Ride & Learn" program. This happened during the UCI Bike City and Mobility 2025 Forum in Copenhagen. The program aims to promote social cohesion, inclusion and peace through cycling and is under the patronage of renowned personalities.

"Ride & Learn" is aimed at trainers and teachers who work with children and provides an extensive pedagogical manual with 75 sessions. These sessions are designed in such a way that they can be adapted to different needs. Thematically, among other things, it is about self -acceptance, respectful communication and the value of teamwork. A pilot project of this initiative has already started in Rwanda, where local trainers are trained in the bike association.

cycling - an educational topic

Overall, it is clear that both the local cycling tours of the students and the international efforts in cycling to promote education and social values can shape our offspring sustainably. So cycling not only makes you fit, but also clever, and thus contributes to the formation of young people - a radical good approach!

Thanks to the students of the Collège de Mirepoix for their commitment and support of their families, who have made this wonderful experience possible.
