Swimming End of Generations: Francine De Lellis' Legacy in Vitry

In the charming town of Vitry, not only is swimming a popular sport, but the community spirit is also constantly growing here. A shining example of this is Francine De Lellis, whose family roots are closely linked to the city's history. Her grandfather settled in Vitry in the 1920s and worked at Ponticelli Frères, a company specializing in industrial piping. Francine's mother was also born here before the family moved to Orly. Francine's return to the city with her parents in the 1970s marked the beginning of her swimming career as she joined the ESV to learn to swim.

At ESV, which was founded in 1924 and has a long tradition in the local sports landscape, Francine found not only a sport, but also support from committed volunteers and a strong sense of belonging. Her commitment to the club has been unbroken for over 20 years: she is the secretary of the ESV and is responsible for its fortunes. Her husband Hervé, also from Vitry, is a physiotherapist and osteopath and contributes to the sporting community, while her three daughters, Anaïs, Éléa and Carla, not only learned to swim in the club, but are also successful in the sporting and medical sectors.

Volunteering in sports

The importance of volunteer work is very important in the ESV. Francine has repeatedly emphasized how crucial volunteerism is to the affordability of sports clubs. The ESV has offered her family support in difficult times, which makes the club particularly important. With over 8,000 members and 37 sports on offer, the ESV covers a wide range - from recreational to competitive sports to team and individual sports, and its aim is to cater to all age groups and ability levels.

The organization is not only designed for performance-oriented athletes, but also promotes the sporting, educational and health growth of all members. Everyone can take responsibility and actively participate in the club. This is also one reason why the ESV has so many broad offerings to offer everyone a chance and strengthen the community.

A contribution to health and education

What is particularly noteworthy is that sporting activities can have positive effects on young people's motor skills, social skills and self-confidence. This is also shown by a look at international volunteer projects that look after socially disadvantaged children and young people. In many countries, these groups are often underrepresented and cannot afford sport, which limits their freedom of movement. Therefore, projects that address the needs of these children are of great importance in order to enable them to actively participate in sport, which can ultimately help solve social problems, as a source on volunteering in sport describes.

Francine De Lellis has understood how to combine this commitment with her own life story. She is a shining example of cohesion and the tireless effort to promote the swimming community in Vitry. In her efforts to make the ESV accessible to as many people as possible, she works tirelessly to organize events that promote solidarity and the joy of sport. A family atmosphere that connects generations and stands for a strong, sporty Vitry.
