Baroque sounds conquer Delmenhorst: inspiring summer concert!

On Wednesday evening, July 3, 2025, the city church opened its gates for the first of this year's "summer concerts" for the first of this year. Cantor Jörg Hitz welcomed the audience, which was a bit shy at the beginning, but the atmosphere should quickly tip over. Those present were able to look forward to a lively program with works by large baroque composers such as Georg Philipp Telemann, Dieterich Buxtehude, Nicolaus Bruhns and Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber.

A very special highlight was the performance of Telemann's cantata "Hirt and Bishop Uns’r Souls", presented with virtuoso performance by Carla Linné an der violin and Francisco Henriques in bass. This performance was only one of many who invited the audience to clap and feel. Hitz himself accompanied on the Continuo and Thomas Fields on the violoncello, which gave the entire piece of liveliness.

a varied program

The musical journey continued with Buxtehude's "Praeludium, Fuga e Ciaconna in C", which shone through Hitz ’dynamic and expressive execution. Bruhns' prelude also received a very special grade due to his passionate interpretation. Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber's "Nisi Dominus" was performed as a violin concert with mandatory singing voice and Basso Continuo. Outstanding dialogues between violin and singer, supported by the Continuo duo, ensured a captivating performance that was rewarded with great applause.

The performance of the two soloists is particularly noteworthy: Francisco Henriques showed impressive mastery of bass coloratures, while Carla Linné captivated the audience with her finger and arched items. Hitz and Fields also delivered a sensitive continuo game that rounded off the evening perfectly.
