The Tigers thus secured top spot in the Lower Saxony/Bremen Football Association League, a truly impressive success considering that they had already achieved three wins at the start of the season and had only lost a single game against Wolfsburg.

Before kick-off, the Emden Tigers and the Göttingen Generals were tied at the top of the table, with the Tigers in the lead due to the better point difference.
