Kleverland Canoe Club: Paddling and barbecuing together in the countryside!
For all those who love the water and value community, there is a name that you should remember: the Kanu-Club Kleverland e.V. This sports offering has not only established itself as a magnet for water sports enthusiasts, but also organizes regular community trips in Germany and the Netherlands. Connected to around 1,300 other clubs in the German Canoe Club, the Canoe Club appeals to people of all ages - whether young people or adults, everyone will find their place here.
A highlight of the year is the Ascension Day paddling tour, which takes place in the picturesque surroundings of Emden. The Whitsun weekend also promises adventure: on a tour of the Netherlands, starting from a campsite, participants have the opportunity to enjoy the unique canals and the natural beauty of the Weerribben-Wieden region. This idyll is only accessible by small boats, which makes the experience all the more special.
Shared activities and socializing
In addition to paddling, socializing is also very important at the canoe club. In the evenings, people meet for a barbecue under pavilions, which promotes cohesion and sociability. Families with children are welcome to take part in the local tours, which usually take place on Sundays. Another advantage: the club area at Kermisdal is also available to guests of other canoe clubs as overnight accommodation. If you're interested, new memberships are always welcome - if you're good at it, you'll quickly find what you're looking for here!
The club's home stretches along the Spoy Canal, which flows 864 kilometers into the Rhine and 6 kilometers into the Old Rhine. The club grounds themselves are located directly on the Spoy Canal and offer an ideal starting point for all water sports enthusiasts. In times of pandemic, digitalization in popular sports in the Kleve district is becoming more necessary than ever. Work is being done on modern digital and media equipment, which is funded by the European Union, in order to modernize organized popular sport and take it to a new level.
Canoe tourism in Germany
But the commitment to water sports is not limited to the Kleverland Canoe Club. The Bundesverband Kanu e.V. (BVKanu) is also providing a breath of fresh air on a larger level. With the publication of a new brochure on the results of a comprehensive study into canoe tourism in Germany, BVKanu highlights how important this sector is for the local tourism economy. The brochure documents that canoe tourism has not only advanced its professionalization, but is also closely linked to sustainable practices.
What is fascinating is that canoe tourism companies can now offer a diverse portfolio of offerings to meet the demands and wishes of nature lovers. If you would like to find out more about the results of the study, you can request the brochure in printed or digital form from the BVKanu office.
In summary, it can be seen that the Canoe Club Kleverland e.V. and canoe tourism as a whole play an indispensable role in the sports and leisure sector.
