Salary ripples at Rossmann: This is how much Lower Saxony earns now!

What's buzzing in the drugstore world? The RTL program “What does Germany deserve?” recently took an exciting look behind the scenes at Dirk Rossmann GmbH, which is considered the second largest drugstore chain in the country. With over 2,300 branches and more than 40,000 employees in Germany, you don't just look at fillers on the shelves, but above all at the salaries of the employees.

The human resources manager Stefan Sander gave interesting insights into salaries on the show. Trainees can look forward to a gross monthly income of 1,300 euros. Sales employees usually earn around 3,500 euros gross. And anyone who makes it to a branch manager can receive up to 5,600 euros gross. These are proud amounts! Chantal, who has been working as a product manager in the central warehouse in Burgwedel for 18 years, also earns a respectable gross salary of 5,380 euros.

Insights into the salary landscape

But not all employees are equally satisfied. Anja, who has been working as an order picker for nine months, finds her gross salary of 3,300 euros to be expandable, and - and this cannot be overlooked - her colleague Cordula, who has also been working at the company for ten years, is also satisfied with her earnings. This shows that job satisfaction does not only depend on salary, but also on team spirit and the way people treat each other.

In addition, an exciting picture emerges when you take a closer look at salaries in retail. According to an analysis by Lohnspiegel, the monthly salary of retail clerks is estimated to be around 2,620 euros on average after ten years of professional experience. In companies bound by collective agreements, the salary is even 13 percent higher. Nevertheless, many employees find the wages to be too low - an issue that also concerns the Rossmann team.

Rossmann – a look into history

The history of Dirk Rossmann GmbH began in 1972 in Hanover, when Dirk Rossmann opened his first drugstore at the age of 25. Over the years the company expanded rapidly; Just four years after it was founded, it had 20 stores. The market leader in the north, Rossmann, did not let up even after the fall of the Wall and expanded rapidly into East Germany. Today Rossmann branches can be found not only in Germany, but also in the Czech Republic, Albania, Kosovo and Turkey.

With a wide range of products ranging from personal care to food and cleaning products, Rossmann has also specialized in organic products and is working on expanding its online business. A step that is perhaps not unwise in the current sales climate - competition with dm is still present and the price wars are intense.

Whether in branch operations or in the central warehouse, the people who stand behind the shelves make a decisive contribution to Rossmann's success. In an environment in which retail has been recognized as systemically important during the Corona pandemic, employees are more in demand than ever. It remains exciting to see how the salary landscape within the industry develops.

For those interested in salaries and developments in retail, the figures from Rossmann and the insights from the RTL program News38, Salary comparison and Lohnspiegel are absolute must-reads.
