Charity game in Bickenriede: Support for children with cancer!

A very special event will take place in Bickenriede next week: a charity game for children with cancer. Organized by the Schalke Fan Club, this friendly duel between the Eichsfeld regional selection and the traditional FC Schalke 04 team is on the program to mark the 20th anniversary of the fan club. The proceeds from this great campaign benefit the Parents' Initiative for Children with Cancer Jena (EKK). MDR reports that the game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m.

The anticipation for the game is already palpable and many fans and supporters of the cause are expected to attend the event. The funds raised through ticket sales and other donations will go directly into the care and support of affected families. A strong sign of solidarity, especially at a time when many families are facing health challenges.

A look at the background

But what exactly does it mean for the children affected? Projects that offer support in this context include the school avatar, a small robot that enables seriously and chronically ill children to participate in class digitally. According to information from the Children's Cancer Foundation The school avatar appears as if it were the “mouth, eyes and ears” of the patient’s child at school. Whether from the clinic or from home – taking classes is affordable for everyone who owns a tablet.

Another remarkable event took place in 2008: a charity game between FC Schalke 04 and Glasgow Rangers, organized by Aktion Kinderträume and the Bundesverband Kinderhospiz e.V. Here, 12 children and young people with life-limiting illnesses were given the opportunity to experience a real football game and come into contact with top-class players like Gerald Asamoah. This type of support not only brings joy but also important memories for the families affected.

Strong together for a good cause

Such events are essential because they show how valuable solidarity and community are. The support from the region, be it in Bickenriede or elsewhere, proves to be a support for many who need mutual help in difficult times. In Volkenroda, for example, there will be a farmers' market on Saturday where 50 traders will offer local products - an opportunity to strengthen the regional economy and also support social projects like the one in Bickenriede.

For the organizers and participants in the charity game, one thing is certain: together we can achieve the best and be a ray of hope for the children affected and their families. A good reason not to miss the game and to show your solidarity - because every contribution counts when it comes to giving hope and help.
