Literature Autumn Göttingen: Angela Merkel opens the reading festival!
The Göttingen Literature Autumn is an exciting event for all literature enthusiasts, which began last weekend like a fireworks display of words. This literary festival kicked off with a reading by none other than Angela Merkel. Next weekend, October 18th and 19th, everything revolves around numerous other exciting events. Some hall tickets are already completely sold out, but there are still remaining tickets available for other program items. And don't worry: if you prefer to listen from the comfort of your own home, you can stream most performances online with a “Live on Air” ticket. Anyone interested in the highlights of the festival will find exciting insights in the program details.
On Saturday, October 18th, two special readings are on the agenda. At 6 p.m. Peter Urban and Ocke Bandixen will discuss the great Bob Dylan in the sold-out NDR Kultur podcast. This event will be particularly exciting because the NDR culture podcast “Urban Pop” will discuss Dylan’s artistic transformation since the 70s. The creative mind is described as an enigma whose works are a mixture of personal love poetry, country songs and talking blues. Later in the evening at 9 p.m., the winner of the German Book Prize, Dorothee Elmiger, will read from her book “The Dutch Women” – a reading that also quickly filled the seats.
