SVG Göttingen celebrates triumphant promotion to the top league!

A fantastic end to the season for the ladies SVG Göttingen: Last Sunday they celebrated an impressive 2-0 win against SG Hillerse-Leiferde at home in KRÜGERPARK. In doing so, they not only successfully played their last league game, but also secured the championship in the regional league and the associated promotion to the upper league.

The stars of the game were undoubtedly Jasmin Kochinke, who scored both goals - one in the 17th minute and the other in the second period. With a total of 26 goals in the season, Kochinke secures second place in the top scorers list, while her teammate Luisa Grosch leads the rankings with 29 goals, but failed to score in the last game.

Advancement and challenges

The SVG coach, Robin Gröling, was more than satisfied with the performance of his players. “The season was characterized by offensive football; in total we scored 94 goals and only conceded 18 goals,” says Groling proudly. Nevertheless, he announced that there would be some changes in the team: “There will be a lot of changes, that’s okay.” Among the players willing to change are some from Rot-Weiß Göttingen who are going through major personnel upheavals.

Kevin Martin, the former coach of Rot-Weiß Göttingen, speaks of “brutal distortions” in women’s football in southern Lower Saxony. While Rot-Weiß is withdrawing its team from the Oberliga and will play in the regional league in the future, 13 players, including Elina Wöckener and Lea Bindewald, are moving to SVG Göttingen. These changes not only affect the teams themselves, but also the entire league.

A look at the Lower Saxony Oberliga

The Oberliga Lower Saxony is the highest league in the Lower Saxony Football Association and was founded in 1975. It normally comprises 24 teams and is currently the fourth highest division in the German women's league system. Thanks to its promotion, SVG Göttingen will be part of this highly competitive league in the future.

The champions of the Oberliga have the chance to qualify for the Regionalliga Nord. SVG now faces the challenge of proving itself in this strong league. Gröling will of course do everything in his power to adjust the team accordingly and prepare it for the challenges of the new season.

End of the season with a celebratory atmosphere

After the last game, the players and fans were happy about a successful season with an exuberant end to the season. The climb was celebrated extensively with a barbecue and freshly tapped beer. Ultimately, successful seasonal campaigns also require due recognition. With the positive atmosphere in the team and the achievements this season, SVG Göttingen not only scored their goals, but also opened up great prospects for the coming season.
