Car crashes into house in Liebenburg – 30,000 euros in damage!

On July 10, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred in Liebenburg, more precisely in the Othfresen district, which shocked numerous eyewitnesses in the area. At around 11:40 a.m., a 72-year-old man from Liebenburg was driving a Mercedes on Heißumer Straße when he lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. The car left the road, crossed the footpath, broke through a fence and finally crashed into the facade of a house. This dramatic turn of events led to an estimated total damage of around 30,000 euros.

The driver was taken to hospital in Goslar with minor injuries. A towing service was quickly on site to recover the damaged vehicle. The exact circumstances that led to this accident are currently unclear and are being investigated by local authorities. Road traffic accident statistics show that such incidents are not common, but have increased overall in recent years.

Extent of traffic accidents

How Statista reported, there were around 2.5 million road traffic accidents in Germany in 2023. A large majority of these accidents involve property damage, while the number of accidents resulting in personal injury has remained largely stable since 1955. Traffic has increased in recent decades, posing a challenge to road safety.

Particularly alarming are the most common causes of traffic accidents resulting in personal injuries, which, according to current statistics, include insufficient distance, improper speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. In 2023, around 15,700 alcohol-related accidents were registered, resulting in 193 deaths and 18,686 injuries. This highlights the importance of responsible driving in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents.

Road safety measures in the future

Another focus is on “Vision Zero”, which the EU transport ministers are striving for. The goal: no more deaths on the roads by 2050. An ambitious goal that is also important for future transport policy and the development of safety measures. The Accident statistics provides well-founded data that serves as a basis for measures in legislation, traffic education, road construction and vehicle technology.

It remains to be hoped that incidents like the one in Liebenburg can be minimized in the future through increased education and preventive measures. All road users are called upon to reconsider their driving style and take responsibility in order to increase safety on the roads.
