New district board of the Greens in Goslar: Heading for the 2026 election!
On October 28, 2025, the members of Alliance 90/The Greens met in the Goslar district in the Green Office to elect a new district executive and set the course for the local elections in 2026. The event was a complete success and was characterized by a positive atmosphere. The outgoing board was able to draw a positive conclusion: the number of members increased, the local groups were active and the cooperation in the district association was rated as constructive. The increasing relevance of green issues in the district was also emphasized, which gave those present a good feeling for the challenges ahead.
The election of the new board brought a breath of fresh air into the structures. The previous board members Agnes Lindmüller, Joachim Kraume-Flügel and Anna Sophie Baumann did not stand again. The new speakers, Mareike Niebuhr from Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Mathias Schlawitz from Goslar, announced that they would intensify the citizen dialogue and continue the successful work. Fabian Degen remains on board as district treasurer and is supported by a new team that includes, among others, Cornelia Ehrhardt from Braunlage and Stefan Scheele from Bad Harzburg.
Strategic planning for the local elections
A central concern of the new board is strategic planning for the upcoming local elections. In preparation, working groups were formed to deal with the topics of the election. In addition, a training and mentoring series will be launched to optimally prepare potential candidates. The new board has set itself the ambitious goal of finding suitable people for the district council and mayoral elections in 2026.
The entire project is part of a larger movement that makes it clear that the views and needs of citizens should be taken even more into account in decision-making processes. The intention to expand dialogue with the population was set as one of the priorities. This is happening against the background that the Greens want to continue to represent a clear voice for environmental and climate protection in the district.
A look into the future
If you look at other federal states, you can see how the Greens in Munich are already developing clear strategies for the local elections in 2026. Mayor Dominik Krause speaks of a “realistic, courageous and forward-looking” program that was adopted in the Werksviertel. In Munich, the challenge is particularly evident in rents, which are described as the biggest explosive factor for the community. The need for a climate-neutral city by 2035 is also being expressed more and more loudly.
What is happening in Goslar is part of a larger green change that can be discovered not only locally, but also nationwide. Looking ahead to future elections, it remains to be seen what weight green issues will have nationally when voters go to the polls in 2026. As the experiences in Munich show, a focused approach and active citizen participation could be the key to success.
With a new board and fresh enthusiasm, the Greens in Goslar are preparing for the upcoming election year of 2026. It will be exciting to see how the goals and projects will develop and what relevance the topic of climate protection will continue to have.
