Sven Regener receives the new Goldener Ton music award in Goslar!

Goslar is looking forward to a special event: On Saturday, October 29, 2025, the newly named “Golden Tone” will be awarded for the first time. The prize, once known as the Paul Lincke Ring, now has a new name and new meaning. This renaming isn't just a cosmetic change; It follows the justified criticism of the Nazi past of the original namesake.

Now the “Golden Tone” is awarded to the famous musician Sven Regener. Regener, known for his band “Element of Crime”, his virtuoso trumpet playing and his literary contributions, including the book and film “Herr Lehmann”, will personally travel to the award ceremony in the Kurhaus in Goslar-Hahnenklee. The laudatory speech will be given by the renowned director Leander Haußmann.

A new way

The decision to rename came after intensive discussion and processing of the history. Historians have been able to prove that the composer Paul Lincke was involved during the Nazi era and benefited from the conditions at the time. This led to a suspension of the previous award ceremony and a reassessment by the Goslar City Council, which finally decided to rename it in April 2025. Regener himself was nominated for the Paul Lincke Prize last year and vehemently called for history to be dealt with - a remarkable commitment.

The award ceremony is accompanied by a special supporting program. The award winner will dedicate a newly built sound installation in the Hahnenklee spa gardens, which has already aroused the interest of many music lovers. The new prize has also been given a fresh design and will be retrospectively awarded to Regener for 2024. Regener thus joins the list of prominent award winners, including Peter Maffay, Udo Lindenberg, Ina Müller and Annett Louisan.

An uncertain future

Despite the positive developments surrounding the award ceremony, the future of the “Golden Tone” remains uncertain. In order to clarify the connections between Lincke and Nazi greats, a report is available, the results of which could influence the further awarding of the music prize. The award ceremony is currently suspended and it remains to be seen how the situation will develop.

In the meantime, Regener provides inspiring moments with his musical talent and art. Whether as a musician or as an author, he knew how to inspire his audience and occupy a place in the German cultural scene. The upcoming award ceremony in Goslar could represent an important turning point in his career.
